The winners of the club pairs championship for 2015 are John Rogers and Margaret Partridge. Second were Faye Carnovale and Shirley Sheppard.
Unfortunately due to a scoring error Faye and Shirley were initially proclaimed the winners but this was corrected the same day.
It was good to see so many people participating this year.
Peninsula wo the trophy last year and we were hoping to hang on to it but in the end it was North Shore Bridge club who triumphed.
Thirty-six teams from seven bridge clubs battled it out against each other to see which club has the best talent across the range of Masterpoint categories. The three smaller club entries from Gordon Bridge Centre, Bridge Today (Narrabeen RSL), and Balgowlah-Dee Why combined into an All-Stars group to compete with strong entries from Peninsula, Trumps, North Shore and Manly Leagues. A successful club needed to enter teams of all levels of experience with each of the fields contributing to the club result.
Teams were divided into four fields (based on each team's player with the highest number of MP):
- Over 750 MP (8 teams)
- 300-750 MP (10 teams)
- 100-300 MP (10 teams)
- Less than 100 MP (8 teams)
The full results including pair datums for these four fields are published here.
North Shore won the 2015 Margaret Smale Sydney North Inter-Club Teams with 16 points ahead of Peninsula (13) and Trumps (11).
There were 12 teams in the MOT today and team 1 were the victors. Well done to Joan Rutherford, Joan Fawcett, Eunice Newman and Dorit Taylor. We can all learn some valuable lessons from the way they play teams. They had 5 wins in 5 matches and managed to stay out of trouble all day unlike most of the rest of the field!
Second were Lynn Baker, Yvonne Perkins, Marg and John Rogers and third were Chris Duggin, Jocelyn Bertram, Anne Small and Cath Whiddon. Well done to all of them.

The Northern Region defeated the South at the Sydney Regional Final on Sunday. The North was represented by Trumps (A grade and B grade), Gordon (C grade), and Peninsula (D grade), and all won their matches. The Northern representatives for next year are to be determined at the Sydney North InterClub Teams Challenge at Peninsula on Sunday 8 February 2015. The Peninsula D team were Mike Pengelly, Tim Mussared, Peter Clarke and SarahYoung (replacing Jim Rothwell). Mike and Tim were placed first in the Butler ranking for the day.
As usual everyone ate too much, complained about the trivia quiz, demolished Sue's profiteroles in record time, played plenty of bridge, drank lots of champagne and punch and generally had a good time. We had the largest number ever (138) and Avalon meats were very worried that some would go hungry but there was plenty of food. Terry and Lois Rothwell did a great job supervising the beginners and Sue Riley and Vickie and Kerry Busteed worked very hard to organise the day. Thanks to everyone who helped including Colin Mingay (pictured).
