I was brought up in Adelaide and moved to Sydney as a young mother 43 years ago.

I live in Bayview and when I retired 6 years ago I joined Peninsula Club the following year. I love to play bridge, but with other commitments I can usually only play one day a week on Tuesdays. My friend and bridge partner Sandy Black and I, through education and playing are slowly gathering points, becoming more confident and gaining new strategies along the way. We still get very jittery when asking for aces and usually are very happy just to be in game, but we certainly aim to get beyond this stage.

I have met many fabulous ladies on Tuesdays and enjoy the chats and laughs we have during the day. Early in my membership I walked in one Friday without a partner and was placed with a person I did not know, her name is Marg Ashby, we have since become very good friends, holidaying and enjoying lots of fun activities together.

I think Peninsula is a great Club and my only suggestion would be that the club offer at least one more morning game. I know there are others like myself and have grandchildren to pick up from school at 3pm leaving only Tuesday to play. Maybe Friday could be a 10am start?

Every Thursday I join a group of ladies and we “go walking” all over Sydney. With these ladies I recently walked 120kms along the Portuguese Camino into Santiago de Compostela in Spain, a famous Pilgrimage Walk. It was a wonderful experience.

My other favourite past time is paddling. For the last 12 years I have been a member of The Pittwater Pinks Dragon Boat team. We meet twice a week at Bayview and paddle along beautiful Pittwater. We have paddled in Canada, USA and next year our team are heading to Florence in Italy to compete in an International event.
