Many of our competitions are named in honour of a club member.

Verl Lawrence was a Life Member and took on many roles on the Committee and also many volunteer duties in her over 30 years of being a member – Tea Lady, Masterpoint Secretary, Director, Vice-President and Chief Director for 17 years.  She was President in 2001, 2002.  The Lawrence Shield competition was created in 2017 when she retired as Chief Director to celebrate the contribution she and her husband John had made to the club.

Michael Marks was Peninsula's president for 4 years between 1996 and 2000 while we were arranging our dedicated clubhouse connected to the Nelson Heather Centre. He was instrumental in negotiating a favourable long term lease agreement and designing the space we have. 

Charlie Mitchell was a long term member of the club and was well known for his excellent bridge skills well beyond our club.  He was a committee member, a director and chief director for many years. He was President in 1973, 1974, 1978, 1979, 1980.  The Charlie Mitchell Shield was donated by Trish and Ian Giles.

Ada Sloman was a co-founder of the club in 1966.

Jean Stebbins was one of the early directors at the club.

Bruce Padman was an active early member of the club.

Sue Riley was President in 2005, 2006, 2015 and is a director and has been active in helping to run the club for many years.

Cath Whiddon is a major force in Bridge Education both within the club and more broadly.  She ran our first beginners course in 2010.
