There will be a third SALT teams event on BBO on Monday evenings at 7:30pm (or earlier) starting on September14th with 2 divisions (roughly U100 MPs and Open).
In the meantime, ATTENTION - novice and other 'newish' players!
We have participated in both of the two recent SALT competitions and highly recommend these events! As relatively new and inexperienced players, we have loved the opportunity to learn about team play in this friendly setting, and definitely intend to sign up again. It would be fabulous to have additional teams in the next competition, and we encourage you to join us.
Here is some information about how SALT 3 will work.
WHAT is SALT 3?
- SALT (Snakes and Ladders Teams) is a round robin competition for teams of 4 players, each team comprising 2 pairs.
- Teams are placed in graded divisions according to total masterpoints.
- Each week your team plays against a different team from your division.
- 20 boards are played per match, 10 boards each against both of the opposing pairs.
WHEN will it be held?
SALT 3 will be held on Mondays at 7.30 pm, commencing 14th September. It will run for approximately four weeks, depending on the number of entries in your division. Teams may negotiate alternative times if necessary.
WHERE will I play?
The competition is run via BBO, so enjoy playing in the comfort of your own home!
WHY should I play?
- Learn new 'team play' skills.
- Learn about IMPs (quite a change from the usual MPs)!
- Get to know others within a team setting.
- Have some fun on a Monday night!
- Have a quick Zoom debrief afterwards?
Is there a COST?
- The single-entry fee per player is $21, with no BBO or other costs. This payment is to provide financial support to the club and align with its club-hosted BBO sessions.
ANYTHING ELSE I need to know?
- Log-in and other instructions will be sent to participants with the draw.
HOW do I enter?
- Form a team and select a captain. Captains should register with convener Robin Devries by 12th September.
