Congratulations to the winners of the recent Lawrence Shield U300 competition and the State Open Teams Qualifier event.
Sandy Carter and Nerida Gillies had a convincing win in the Lawrence Shield which was run over three weeks with a well attended all-comers side section.
They scored 64.4%, well ahead of the equal second pairs Len Evershed and Simon Hunter and Susan Eason and Lynne Talmont with 55.8%. Barbara & Liam Gavin and Brian & Shirley Sheppard were just behind.
Alan Davies, Vivien Eldridge, Patrick Starck and Aleksandar Milovanovic had a convincing win in the Teams with 78.2 VPs, well ahead of team Gillies with 55 VPs. Sorry, no photo was taken.
There were only 6 teams playing in this event over three Saturdays and unfortunately there wasn't enough interest to run a side section on any of the days. It was run as a New England Relay one week and a Round Robin the other two with every team playing every other team for 5 boards each week resulting in 15 board matches overall.
