Our club BBO online sessions are the place to play with your friends (they are restricted to Peninsula members, other local players and their friends). They also offer ABF Masterpoints.

How to play in these Peninsula online sessions

  1. Check your BBO Username is accurate on our (view only) PBC Online Usernames List (if not register it on this form by the evening before the session)
  2. Check you have credit on your BB$ account - this article tells you how
  3. In the two hours before the tournament starts: login in to BBO | Competitive | All Tournaments | Pending | search for "PenBC" or "2210" to find our club games starting soon, click on the tournament you want (check you have the right one) and then
  4. Register with your partner's BBO username and agree to pay the table money fee when the tournament starts - Note your partner needs to be logged into the same area of BBO (NOT in the Casual area) and accept the invitation for the registration to succeed
  5. Ensure you and your partner are both logged into the same area of BBO (NOT in the Casual area) when the tournament starts or you will miss out (you won't be charged table money if you miss out)

Using the Partnership Desk

If you do not have a partner lined up before hand, when you get to step 4 above, click on the Partnership Desk tab. If there are players already listed there, invite one to partner you. If not add yourself to the list and hope someone else will come along and invite you to play.

You can even require any interested partner to pay your table money which might be quite appropriate if you are there only to offer to be a fill-in if needed.

If no-one takes up your offer before the tournament starts, BBO chat to the director just before or immediately the tournament starts in case he needs to fill in a half table - the director's BBO username is listed in the Tournament's Details tab.

How to receive ABF Masterpoints

To receive ABF Masterpoints for one of our club hosted BBO tournaments you also need to register your BBO username with the ABF.

  • Go to http://www.abfevents.com.au/forms/signup/ OR Click on the link "Get email updates" on the ABF Home Page,
  • Enter your ABF number, name, email address and BBO username - you can also sign up for other ABF services at the same time if you wish.

If you have already subscribed to the ABF newsletter or SMS results service before you will receive  an email inviting you to update your profile/register your BBO username.  (This apparent "doubling up" is for security purposes.)

Quick Summary – Alerting, Undo, Showing Name and System

The club has developed protocols for playing in online club games.  For more information and instructions please see the full document.

  • Any bid should be alerted (including bids that are self-alerting in face to face bridge) on BBO if it does not indicate a willingness to play in that contract.
  • Opening bidders of 1C/1NT (that involve announcements in face to face bridge) should also alert their bid.
  • To alert a bid on BBO, enter an explanation as part of making the bid. You can also alert later if you forget by clicking on your bid.
  • You can ask a bidder for an explanation of a bid or alert by clicking on the bid.  Do not use Chat to Table for alerting, explaining or asking questions about bids as this will give unauthorized information to your partner. If necessary you can ask a follow-up question by private chat to the bidder by clicking on the bidder's username.
  • Please enable 'Confirm bids' and 'Confirm cards' in your Account | Settings to minimise the risk of making an unintended bid or play. Our sessions are normally set up with no option for an undo.
  • To support friendly club sessions please show at least your first name and preferably your full name in the 'Real name' field and key system notes in the 'Other' field in your Account | Profile.
  • You can click on a username to see their name and key system notes.
