This article guides you on how to access four of the club's key communication channels to promote your event or lesson or other message to our members:

  • The list of Session Announcements sent to directors on Sunday or Monday morning each week
  • The Pianola Results message header generally updated at the same time
  • The Event Notices lists (2) of upcoming special events, and
  • The Club TV Slideshow running before and during each session.

These are in addition to other key channels such as the website including its event calendar, Pianola targeted email messaging, other notices on the club noticeboards, fliers, Facebook posts and any communications to other bridge clubs or external email lists.

Session Announcements/Pianola Results message header

The despatch of the session announcements and the update of the Pianola results message header is generally undertaken each Sunday or Monday morning. You can edit the source list for this process online to have your message included or updated. Not that for these purposes, both brevity and clarity are important, and longer than necessary messages will be shortened - have a look at other messages in the list as a model for what you might provide.

Event Notices lists (2) of upcoming special events

These are the two event notices columns of upcoming special events currently located near the office door and above the event registration noticeboard. They simply show the event name and time/date and the convenor, and by the event name's font colour, indicate the type of the masterpoints involved. Not surprisingly you will need to be able to print the notices on a colour printer (such as the club's Brother 8900 printer). You should start with a similar past event example for your event notice. Once your have updated and checked the text online you can copy and paste the top half over the bottom part of the page if you prefer this to repeating the updates. When your page is ready, print it on the colour printer checking you have only selected the particular page(s) you want and that you have selected colour printing. Then guillotine the page(s) in half to have two identical event notices for the two Event Notices lists (putting them up in date order).

The Club TV Slideshow

Because updating the Club TV Slideshow is a real-time process, access to this is controlled. Appoint an appropriate person or persons in your sub-committee or working group and ask David Farmer or Simon Hunter for them to be given edit access. That person, when logged in, will be able to edit the Slideshow online on your behalf, including adding new slides or editing existing ones.
