Having made it through most of a hectic year our President has gone abroad for a well-deserved break, leaving you with me to try to write this monthly letter to you.
The month has had its significant successes:
- Peninsula edging our Brisbane Waters in our first head to head competition
- An excellent Melbourne Cup function
- A successful transition to a new Committee at our AGM
- The welcoming at the AGM of three new Honorary Life members - Alan Davies, Anita Kite and Catherine Whiddon
- Peninsula doing well in the state's Most Improved list
- Peninsula doing well at the State Open Pairs
None of this comes without sustained effort and there are so many to thank including but my no means limited to:
- The past Committee and particularly those stepping down after a period of significant contribution
- Anne Small, Vivien Eldridge and Sue Falkingham who put in significant time behind the first interclub event with Brisbane Waters
- Sue Riley and Gayle King and many others behind the Melbourne Cup function
Also to note at this time of year is the significant work done by the Tournament Sub-Committee in preparing for our 2018 events, by Vivien Eldridge to prepare our 2018 Diary, and by the Bridge Education Sub-Committee to review 2017 and then prepare our 2018 education program.
Looking forward we have the concluding rounds of our many annual competitions - those who do well can celebrate their stamina as well as they sustained brilliance and partnership understanding!
The Christmas Party on 10 December will be a highlight of the month and promises to be a fitting end of the year - worthy of many photos.
In case this is the last Newsletter before the start of the festive season, I wish you a time of peace and fellowship - and that it leads to a great year of bridge in 2018.
