IT MIGHT BE TIME TO STEP UP...
Are you in Supervised like Jane and me, and getting an itch in your "Opening Hand"?
Then you should think about having a go at a higher level. It's easy to settle into the comfort zone of Supervised and to think that it's just too hard to step up, but many who we all know from Supervised are dipping their toes in at the higher level already, and totally enjoying themselves - just ASK them!
Our large open sessions (on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons) consist of three levels - ROOKIES (green), MEDIUM (red) and ADVANCED (blue) and you and your partner would start in ROOKIES, playing with others who are little (or no!!!) better than you.
It's not as intimidating as you might think, and the company is still typically Peninsula Bridge Club - just as friendly and encouraging as we are all so used to. The snag is that ROOKIES don't use notes and there's no"phone-a-friend" in the heat of the moment - like the chick out of the nest finding its own wings, you just have to figure it out as you go.
BUT IT'S FUN !! š¤ AND YOU STILL GET A CUPPA AND A BISCUIT AT INTERVAL. PPVs STILL WELCOME !
Players who had been in the GREEN group for a while have been being encouraged to step up higher, so there are opportunities right now to be a newbie GREEN while the group is not far ahead of you, especially on Monday afternoons where many ROOKIES have 'graduated'. You'll probably beat Jane and me at your first attempt!
There are various other gentle sessions during the week, at various times of day and evening.
You need to bring your own partner or else use PARTNER FINDER. And, of course, if you try it once and don't like it then you will still be welcome back in Supervised.
Why not talk to your Supervised Session Director about it and improve your bridge further while having fun at the same time.
