Stepbridge

Having just completed my first game in StepBridge I'm very impressed with how it compares to BBO.

Regular masterpoint tournaments are run 3-4 times a day - 1pm, 4pm, 8pm and sometimes 10am. A couple of times a month there are red masterpoint events.  Each tournament has 3 board rounds, 8 rounds and 24 hands. All up it takes just under 2 1/2 hours.

To use StepBridge, you first have to register at stepbridge.com.au.  You will then be sent a userid and password and be asked to download the app which can be run on Windows or a Mac.

After downloading the app, login with the userid and password. You will then have 2 weeks to try it out for free including up to 5 tournaments as well as unlimited social games.

The bidding and play itself is very similar to BBO - you must alert your own bids and partner can't see your description or the alert.

At the end of the tournament, you'll get an in depth results email. As well as your final result this shows for every hand how the bidding went, the results at every table and each and every card played at your table.

The only disappointing thing is that double dummy is not shown for each hand - you'll have to input the hand into bridgesolver yourself if you want to see it.

After your free trial, it's only $5 to join if it's not your home club. Tournaments then range from 10 for $30 to 100 for $225 or social play is always free.

I highly recommend it
