The Peninsula Swiss Pairs Congress was run online by Masterbridge. Nick Fahrer and John McIlrath did a great job organising and promoting our event. We had a record breaking number of entries. At one stage they were coming in at 14 a day! Masterbridge sent very clear instructions were prior to the day but still a few entrants got lost in the morning and never found their way in.
Because of the numbers Nick decided to divide the open so in the end we had three sections – under 300, 300-1000 and open. We had a good PBC representation in all sections especially the under 300.
The winners in each section were:
- OPEN – Mitch Dowling and Heath Henn. Interestingly they have 390 masterpoints between them! So well done to them.
- INTERMEDIATE – Alan Davies and Vivien Eldridge.
- RESTRICTED - Julie Alliston and Patrick Morgan.
- BEST PENINSULA PAIR – Margaret and John Rogers.
With the lockdown likely to continue for months we all have to get used to online play and having Masterbridge prepared to host these events is a big plus.
