What a finish!!   After three weeks during which the leaders had not changed, the Tuesday Cumulative Red Point and Red Wine Tournament came to a dramatic climax with surprise winners in all three divisions.

In the Green (U50) Division, Rick Bloore and Peter Collings followed last week’s win with another stellar performance to snatch a win from Sachiko Cathcart and Debbie Sate with Jill Bridgman and Denise Tomkins coming in third.

In the Reds (U300), it was a similar story with Vickie Busteed and Sandie Rooke finishing strongly to overtake Savitri Newman and Sylvia Volkmer on the home straight. In a photo finish, Andrew Ikin and Lynne Talmont just pipped Bill Davis and Mike Gibb for third place.

In the Blue (Open) Division, Cath Whiddon and David Farmer saved the best for last and finished with the highest score of the entire tournament, both on the day and overall. Bad luck for Jocelyn Bertram and Lyn Smith who had looked unbeatable after the first couple of rounds. Anne Small and Hans van Weeren held on to third place ahead of fast-finishing Jenny Ardill and Alan Davies.

Congratulations to the three winning pairs. As promised, there is a bottle of Haselgrove Shiraz waiting for each of you in my cellar. If you can wait (and a bit more age will not do it any harm) I’ll bring it to the club when we re-open. If you would like to get it sooner, give me a ring and we’ll work out how to get it to you.

I hope that everyone enjoyed the competition.  Cumulative results can be found here.
