Some of the changes at the club have inspired discussions among members about the club's membership situation.
To help these discussions be well-informed and constructive, members may be interested in some recent membership trends, looking at both the joining dates of our current members and the number of lapsed and resigned members.
The joining dates of our current 607 members are as follows:
- Up to 5 years ago - 312 (51.4%), of which
- Last 12 months - 67
- 1-2 years ago - 77
- 2-3 years ago - 72
- 3-4 years ago - 42
- 4-5 years ago - 54
- 5-10 years ago - 148 (24.4%)
- 10-15 years ago - 73 (12.0%)
- 15-20 years ago - 35 (5.8%)
- 20-25 years ago - 19 (3.1%)
- More than 25 years ago - 20 (3.3%)
Conversely in the last three years our lapsed (and resigned) members have been 66, 42 and 62, suggesting that we have needed a significant number of new members to offset those that we lose. We are looking at improving our processes to support members to try to reduce some of these losses, though many would be due to illness, death or moving out of area.
