On Saturday Sept 3rd, Peninsula hosted a special event in honour of Charlie Mitchell.
Charlie Mitchell was a long term member of PBC, and he was well known for his excellent bridge skills well beyond our club. His contributions to our club were remarkable. He was a committee member, a director and chief director for many years.
Congratulations to the winners of the competition Brian Ody and Trevor Laughton. Lyn Smith and Jocelyn Bertram were the runners up.
Thank you to Sue Riley for directing.
After the game many players stayed back to enjoy a glass of wine and a chat with fellow PBC members.
The inaugural Sue Riley Shield was held on Saturday 27 August.
The winners were Lynn Smith and Jocelyn Bertram, closely followed by Brian Ody and Trevor Laughton. Congratulations!
Those who attended enjoyed wine and cheese after the event. Many members commented on how good it was to finally be able to compete and celebrate at the Club again.
Congratulations to John Simmonds, Sachiko Cathcart, Susan Eason and Simon Hunter who won the Teams event on 18th June. Sandy Carter and Nerida Gillies and two non-members came second just behind.

Peninsula subsidised 2 pairs to attend the State Mixed Pairs at the NSWBA.
Alan Davies and Vivien Eldridge and Anne Small and Hans van Weeren played in the qualifier on Saturday in a very tough field. Only the top 7 in each direction (N/S and E/W) make the final and neither pair made it.
The Swiss Pairs on Sunday was open to all who did not qualify as well as anyone else who chose to attend. Ado Hardy and Derek Tyms from Peninsula won the Swiss Pairs in what was also a very competitive field. This is a great achievement and they should be congratulated.
PBC players should remember this next year. Everyone is welcome on the Sunday and it is great experience to play against players from all over NSW.
The 2022 Cath Whiddon Cup (U25MP) was run over three Friday mornings in May and was well attended with 8 or 9 tables each week. It is an honour board event.
Congratulations to Caroline Forbes and Vibeke Faurby who were convincing winners ahead of Jim Barber & Diane Garstang.
Our 2022 Congress continued with Teams on Saturday 30th April. There was one section of 15 teams. Prizes were awarded to the best teams in two categories: Open and Restricted (U300MPs) and to the best PBC team. We played 54 boards in 6 rounds.
