    President's Letter - January 2018

December was another busy month for Peninsula.

I went to New Zealand In November and had a wonderful 2 week trip. Whist I was cycling and kayaking, the new committee was working very hard to take on their new roles and ensure the continuing smooth operation of the Club. Renewing fees and distributing diaries began in December, and we are set for another year of bridge.

A highlight of December was the Christmas party, which I was very sorry to miss. The room was full to capacity and a great time was had by all. Thanks to the many helpers and organisers, who together make these events possible. Thanks in particular to Gayle King who has come on to the committee this year and did a marvellous job of organising the event.

    Ask the guru

So you have a burning question or suggestion about the way the club works and players interact? Why do we turn over the contract after the opening lead? Why don't we turn it over until the opening lead? Why don't we all wear name tags. Are players allowed to stop the play and claim the rest of the tricks?

Ask the club guru! Simply send you suggestion or question to guru@peninsulabridgeclub.org.au - or drop a note to the guru and place it in the Suggestion Box to be found soon outside the office.

The questions and answers will be published on this site as an ongoing resource of frequently asked questions. Some may also lead to other responses such as a director pre-session chat, an informative article or even a suggestion to the Committee regarding a change of operating procedure or playing rule.

Peninsula wins 100MP State Pairs Championship

I am travelling, but just tried posting some info on NSWBA and was blown away with the results of the 2017 NSW <100MP Pairs Championships - has anyone else see it? Fantastic - so proud (again), congrats!

    Results

Congratulations to our Marieta Borthwick and Heidi Colenbrander for winning the top prize of free entry and an ABF grant to attend the Restricted Butler Pairs at the Hobart ANC (5-6 Aug 2018). They earned the top non-handicapped score, with an amazing 76.79 in the second session.

    Sale of PPVs

We rely on busy volunteers to sell our prepaid vouchers (PPVs).

On the whiteboard at the south end of the room is a list of the currently trained PPV volunteer sellers. Directors are able to ask any of these people to sell PPVs at a session of bridge. If none of these people are present, directors are able to sell PPVs too. The list is updated as the need arises so the one posted on the whiteboard is the most recent.

PPVs are $7 each if paying by cash with a special price of $65 for ten only if purchased by card/EFTPOS.

If there are any questions about PPVs please contact Cassandra Mitchell on ppvs@peninsulabridgeclub.org.au or 0421 764 300.

For most purposes anyone creating a club document should start with one of the templates provided on this site in The Club | Templates segment. This article however provides access to the club logo artwork for those who might need it. These are not high resolution images and they assume a white background.

    President’s Letter March 2017

February has seen the successful start of many of our competitions. I hope that you enjoy any of the competitions that you take part in.

Congratulations to our 2017 Club Pairs Champions, Cath Whiddon and Ann Small, and also to all our members who did so well at the Gold Coast Congress.

March is a busy month, with the National Open Teams event, the Margaret Smale Inter-Club Teams as well as our Annual Swiss Teams Congress. All these events rely on volunteer help, so please help with catering and tidying if you can. Requests for helpers will be on the notice board or on Pianola.
