The club is running, on a trial basis, two BBO on-line tournaments - Novice (< 100 mp) and Open. There are 8 pairs in each category that play each other pair on a scheduled round-robin basis. There are two matches a week and the pairs arrange a mutually acceptable time to play, provided that matches are completed before the scheduled end of that round.
It’s getting to the exciting stage with only 2 rounds to go. In the Novice Section we have three pairs in the running and the open section is even closer with 6 pairs within 2 points.

Whilst Trish Thomson/Marieta Borthwick and Sarah Young and Annegrete Kolding are tied together at the top of the table, there another 4 pairs within a 2 point range. The range of outcomes is almost open ended including the possibility of 5 teams being tied on 9 points.
Just to show that staying at home means that often you have time on your hands your convener has conducted a statistical analysis of the final result. That shows that Trish & Marieta (32%) and Sarah and Annegrete (27%) have an almost equal probability of winning outright and a 30% probability of sharing the title. The challenge is for the rest of us to defy the odds.
The Novice Section has three pairs in the running.
Trish Berry/Bruce Kleem are tied on 8 points with Margaret Wayland/Peter Sate with Helen Griplas/Sylvia Volkmer only one point behind. These three pairs do not play each other in Round 6 but the final round match between Helen Griplas/Sylvia Volkmer and Margaret Wayland/Peter Sate could be pivotal.
It is run on a league table basis whereby if a pair scores more than 52% over the 20 boards they are awarded 2 points for that win. A score between 52% and 48% is deemed to be a draw and both sides are awarded 1 point.
